Honeybees do far more than make honey. As bees fly from flower to flower collecting nectar, they carry pollen on their fuzzy bodies. That pollen fertilizes plants, allowing them to grow fruits and seeds. Scientists say bees help produce about one out of every three bites of food people eat. Without them, many crops — from apples to almonds — would struggle to grow at all.
