Question 1

How does the free Reading Check-Up work?

Accepted Answer

Your child answers a short set of adaptive questions (about 10 minutes) that pinpoints which specific skills they're missing — phonics, decoding, and comprehension. You get a clear summary of the gaps plus a personalized practice plan to start on right away.

Question 2

What ages and grades does it cover?

Accepted Answer

The Reading Doctor supports learners from PreK through grade 6, with skill checks and practice matched to each grade level.

Question 3

Is anything free?

Accepted Answer

Yes — the Reading Check-Up, the results summary, and your child's personalized plan are all free, with no login required to start. A subscription unlocks the full game catalog and premium tools.

Question 4

Will it help a struggling reader or an English learner?

Accepted Answer

That's exactly what it's built for. Struggling readers get targeted remediation paths, dyslexia-friendly display options are built in, and English learners get bilingual scaffolding in six languages.

Question 5

Can my child's teacher see the results?

Accepted Answer

Only if you choose to share. Sharing progress or assessment summaries with a teacher is parent-controlled — you invite them, and you can revoke access at any time.
